did you read about the german man who stopped off at the services, and left the equivalent of £9,000 in cash behind?
strangely enough, it was gone by the time he raced back to find it.
so the question is, if you had found that stash, would you have
a) handed it in?
b) handed it in after taking a few handfuls of notes for yourself?
c) stuffed the lot up yer jumper and run for it? or
d) thought it might be german toilet paper and used it gratefully?

Id have handed it in.. Then kicked myself after! I like to think that if i lost something.. It would be returned.. Reality is.. I doubt it! x

Pro I'd have picked it up walked away, felt guilty, hung around for a while to see if anyone came haring back to look for it, then handed it over. If not then I honestly can't say what I'd do. Hand it over to the police? I would like to think I would do that but until the occaision presents itself I really can not say one way or the other.

A few years ago, my son had to take £100 in cash out of the machine, and stuffed it in his trouser pocket. When he got home, it had gone.
I told him to go into the police station and report that it had been lost and whereabouts it had happened, on the assumption that any 'normal' person finding that amount of money in the street would do the honourable thing and hand it in. The kids and Hubby looked at me as though I was mad.
Well, he rang the police. But it wasn't handed in.
Rather a sobering lesson for me. But I refuse to give up my faith in human nature entirely!

I'd have handed it in, no question. The harm that could cause someone desperate for the money is massive, but even worse you could end up with the German equivalent of Joe Pesci in Goodfellas after you!
