now where on earth could this be?
the grand canal, venice.
note the lack of traffic lights and roundabouts.
it's a bit busier now than when lord byron swam the whole length of it for a bet.
the only problem with venice high street, though, is that i couldn't find an asda.
though i suppose there could be one out of town - probably sells cheap gondolas, come to think of it.

at least if a gondola was going to ram you..it would be safer to jump into the murky waters than leap from your car onto the M6!
